Why won't yahoo chat let me in the chat rooms?

Why doesnt my mic work in yahoo chat rooms?i can hear but wont let me speak.?

    in order to "talk" you must have latest version (updated version) of 8.1....in your messenger address window click "help" at top...click "about messenger" it will tell you the version your computer is using.. it must be updated version 8.1.0.421..if it is not click "check for updates" that is located in the same "help window"....it will direct you to download version 8.1.0.421....(you do not have to un-install messenger) the download will automatically correct your "talk problem" cheers
