Why my microphone is not working on yahoo messenger, I tried the yahoo call set up assistant and it stated no?

My microphone is connected because I can hear music videos, the news, i tunes, it not working with yahoo messenger why, but the microphone works with everything else.

  Are thinking of the speakers for listening to the music and news etc....? The microphone is what you talk into. If you have one and is it active. Some are built into the monitor [hole on the top edge] or you have a stand alone microphone you plug into your computer. You will need to open your speaker controls and find the microphone. I am not sure if you mute it or turn off the mute. If there is feed back put it on mute to see if it works. I have never seen anything about being able to talk on the yahoo messenger that I see when I am in my email box if that is the same located on the left side. When I had AOL IM it had a talk button.
