-
I was using YM10 perfectly fine for months, and now I cannot use voice calls nor video calls. This is exactly what happens in log in: -Type User and Pass. -The gray, sleeping smiley turns glowing yellow, happy. -Says "Signing in as <username>" -YM NOT RESPONDS -A little patience -It finally logs in...but Voice & Video Calls not working It says on ALL MY CONTACTS, "<Username>'s configuration doesnt appear to support Voice Call" I reinstalled, removed, system restored, switched off firewalls, and even resetting my modem. Please help me..and dont worry i give 10 pts! =) Thank you in advance..

Answer:
Here's the latest Messenger, it has new and improved Voice features and only came out a couple of weeks ago. Actually, it has everything the other Messenger 10's did not, I'm happy to say. Click on the link below and download it onto your computer. Good luck. http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/win.%E2%80%A6

Messenger 10 has proven glitchy on some computers, especially those with Windows 7, so stick with Messenger 9. Download and SAVE the program directly from the web sites - it seems less problematic than an update or install from Yahoo's site. I suggest saving it to your Desktop so it doesn't get 'lost'. Then set up your account and explore all the possibilities. Install it only after completely cleaning the registry of remnants. Downloading from the Yahoo web site can be problematic, so download the full program from an alternate web site. File Hippo has several versions of Yahoo Messenger, but they are now hard to find - only Messenger 10 seems to appear on this site now, unless there are listings of 'earlier versions' somewhere on the page. Instead, try the CNet download page - at the bottom are choices for earlier versions. Choose the highest number for the Messenger 9 versions to get the most recent one. http://download.cnet.com/Yahoo-Messenger/3000-2150_4-10029188.html With Win XP, Yahoo leaves many traces of itself in the registry when an old version is uninstalled (Control Panel > Add/Remove) or a new one fails to install properly - (my uninstall left close to 30 references). The new version will NOT install completely until they are cleaned out. It requires deleting all Yahoo Messenger references from the registry, except your archived messages and profile and contacts lists, perhaps. (Be very careful - you could make a mess in the registry!) Remember to backup the registry or create a new Restore Point first! I've included sources of reputable FREE registry cleaners to assist in that process - it's faster than using "Search for files ...Yahoo! Messenger' and deleting all references one by one. With Win Vista or Win 7, the delete should work well, but check by using 'Search for files' in Programs, and delete any references you find. By the way, it took hours of research, Yahoo Support, and then many more hours of trial and error before finding the one solution that worked!
