Google Voice SMS on Android?

I am planning google voice SMS for HTC aria on ATT instead of using their messaging plan. Is texting with google voice SMS free? Does it use 3G data? if so, how much data does it use? Also, how do I configure google voice SMS on HTC aria? Thank you so much

Yes, but you can also use Edge or WiFi (WiFi does not count against your plan) If you live next to a McDonald's, Starbucks, or Corner Baker (and other like places), you can benefit form true internet use. How much data does it use? A text message is a very small amount of data Depending on how long your messages are, 1kb to 30kb.
