What is mid voice?

What does it mean to have deep voice? What does it mean to have a "1-900" voice?

  • Upon talking to a vast series of guys they all tell me they love my voice. They mention to me I have a deep voice, they tell me it sounds like a "1-900" voice. What does this mean? And why do they like that my voice is deep? I feel paranoid that my voice sounds manly. Is this a compliment? Should I feel good? And what does it mean when they mock my voice? I always say "I don't sound like that." And they just play around like that. So is that a good thing?

  • Answer:

Telling a female that they have a deep voice doesn't necessarily mean someone is saying it is manly. Females can have deep voices and not sound like, say Barry White or James Earl Jones. A good percentage of women have high voices so it's often a sorta phenomenon to hear a woman have a deep voice. Think alto singers, the lower part of the scale, but still female. A lot of black women have much deeper voices than white women do. If they are actually teasing you, just ignore them. Easier said then done I know but that's really all you can do. Fighting or arguing back will just let them see they are getting to you and will make them more likely to continue doing it. By them saying you have a 1-900 voice, it means they think you would sound good on the other end of the line of a sex call. Ignore that too. They're just being stupid boys...which is kinda common.
