How to record skype and my microphone with hypercam 2?

Trying to record Skype calls with Audacity 1.2.6?

  • i am trying to figure out how to record Skype calls with Audacity V. 1.2.6. I found a site that said i need to change the input in Audacity to stereo mixer. When I go into the options it only gives me the two options of Microsoft Sound Mixer and Microphone. I believe I have changed the settings I need to in Skype so I hope Im good there. Would anyone know more about this? Do I need a newer version of Audacity? or maybe download an update? I also have the newest version of Skype.

  • Answer:

Audacity is a great program by the way. So what you want to do is right click your volume/sound icon and click playback devices. Or if you don't have Windows 7 just get to sound options. Go to the recording tab and you should see two or three icons that include "Microphone" and "Line in". Stereo mixer may not be visible because it is disabled, so right click anywhere on the options window and check the selection for "Show disabled devices". Stereo Mix should show up as the last icon. Right click it and select enable. Audacity should now be recording external sounds and your Skype calls. Good luck!
