Problem with running MSN?

Yahoo messenger voice chat problem?

• voice chat is running smoothly in other messengers like msn or skype except yahoo in any yahoo chat room i can hear the other persons but when i make a personal call i can only hear till its ringing when someone pick up the call i cant hear them and when i end call then i hear them just for nano second. i faced the same problem before but i found a solution on internet by changing some settings or registry i don't remember exactly as i update my yahoo i started facing same problem and now cant able to make it work. i did everything yahoo voice set up and select appropriate device but it couldn't work plz help me out.

  This has happened to me a few times over 5 years,if your microphone/camera works on other instant messengers on the same system and those devices are selected as your default "recording devices" in windows or any other os, I would personally uninstall yahoo messenger (keeping a note of login details) and reboot your pc. I'd then re-download YM for a clean install of it, because that in itself may modify the registry to give you back the sound effects of making a call. However - There are other possibilities, look in preferences>alerts and sounds to see if there are any wave file effects are deselected/missing which would loose you the sound effects that are used to make voip calls sound like it's a telephone call. Sometimes one voip program keeps hold of the "recording devices" for itself on certain ports so exiting them all first and running YM might answer that for you by eliminating that possibility and finding the culprit. Opening each one - one at a time and noting if/when you loose or regain call making sound effects might be an idea? Scan for malware and viruses too,and check your firewall is not blocking one of the many ports yahoo messenger uses. Good luck
