Windows Live Messenger Voice Clip Problem?

I live in Dubai. I am unable to use Yahoo Messenger with Voice to call phones outside UAE. Is there a problem?

  • Till about a month ago, Yahoo Messenger voice calls from Dubai (where I live and work) to phones in India / USA were working fine. I even kept adding enough credit to my account. All of a sudden (over the past two weeks) I keep getting the message ''Connecting to Voice Service'' that appears almost endlessly initially to be followed by a message that goes ''Yahoo is unable to connect to the voice service. You may be behind a firewall. Please try later''. I know for a fact that I am not behind any firewalls. I am aware that Etisalat (the local internet gateway provider) used to block Skype. Yahoo Messenger calls were however going through. Not sure if this has also been blocked now. If anyone else if facing a similar problem please let me know if there is a solution and also if there is any other PC to phone service that presently works out of Dubai.

    Actually the "Call " option is not working in Yahoo Messenger in UAE at all now, no difference if you calling to Yahoo Messenger in Dubai, to Yahoo Messenger abroad, or YahooOut. The only solution to talk with voice for you is to use Conference with Voice enabled. I don't think normal "Call" option will be available anywhere soon in Dubai, as Etisalat is blocking it. Just Press "Conference" Tab when you text messaging with someone and tell the counterpart to accept Conference. and just mark Handsfree tab in the Conference window. the voice is working not as good as in "Call", but anyway it's in acceptabe level.

Have you tried changing proxies of your connection. I heard that works well with the Chinese firewall. Not sure if it will work with a local ISP though.

are you using Broadband, if yes u can not connect, i am facing the same problem. Try with Dial Up it helps. You can connect sometimes. Even Yesterday I connect PC to PHONE to India. Loud and clear excellent sound quality

hi i have a perfect solution so that any 1 can use yahoo from where ever its blocked !!! but can any tell me how to contact yahoo will i get a reqard for it pls some 1 tell me the correct answer! on what email should i give the solution thanks! i wanna give the solution to yahoo!! then every 1 will be able to use it its a promise!

i think it has to do something with ur internet provider using proxy servers. that's what i was told when i had similar problems, and i didn't know how to fix it. good luck i encountered similar problems not in dubai itself, but around that region.
