Why can't I talk to my friend on the webcam?

Why cant i use both my webcam and talk at the same time?

  • Chatting to Liza in Philippines, (I am from UK) we both use webcams, and headphones/mic I see and hear Liza OK but when i have my webcam on I sound like Mickey Mouse on SPEED. I have to turn of my webcam, then my voice is normal

    Your webcam and VOIP is designed to work collectively. If it is not working properly as you indicated, you may want to check the webcam settings. If you're not certain what the correct settings are, you can follow the safest course of action by re-setting it to the default settings ( the factory settings it had when it was first purchased). If that doesn't work, you may want to scan the webcam program for virus infection. And finally, if none of these things work, this last option will work. Simply click on "Start" at the lower left hand corner of your screen and then go to "Help and Support Center". From there you can click on "System Restore" and restore the computer to a time when you remember the webcam worked properly with VOIP. This should fix the problem. Hope this helps.

That sounds like a fairly normal symptom when there is not enough bandwidth - especially if one of you is only on dialup speed. But I suggest you check with calls to other people, to find if your problem is actually "you" (at YOUR end) OR perhaps at Philippines end. Actually I've used cam/voice for years, on dialup - with mixed results. But on dialup I find it best to concentrate on voice, and put cam on just for a minute or two then be ready to turn it off it it starts affecting voice.
