Why can't I connect to yahoo messenger?

Hello could somebody help me? my yahoo messenger want let me sign in it says yahoo messenger cant connect.help

  I had this problem one day after I was messing around with my computer settings. If you were doing the same, go to Tools, Internet settings and then change things back the way they were. I think the problem with mine was that under "Temporary Internet files", I hit the settings button and set the amount of disk space too low to allow messenger to run. Once I turned it back up, messenger worked like a charm again. I hope that helps. Other than that I would say to check the Yahoo help section and if you can't figure it out from there, email yahoo or try reloading messenger. Also, if possible, see if you can log into another computer with your ID and use messenger. If you can, you'll know that the problem has something to do with your computer or settings and you can play around until you get it set right...but (not that I know from experience, cough, cough) it might be a good idea to write down how things are when you start messing with them...just in case you forget!
