How do i stop yahoo chat requests?

  • a little more than a year ago i uninstalled yahoo msg. and i have reinstalled windows about 3 times in that year (due to other issues) but i still keep getting chat requests from ppl i don't even know or heard of. all my spam filters are up and running and i have not even installed the msg. so how do i stop the requests its getting really annoying, and now scary as my 10 year old uses my computer. hope someone can help

  • Answer:

if you don't have yahoo messenger then there should be chat request coming up..or if you are signed out them same deal... spam filters have nothing do with chat request because i.m.'s are not spam i think however you could possibly change you privacy settings on yahoo i.m. do where you can only allow people on your friends list to chat with you idk really confuses me really.. if its just popping up have it checked for a virus... not anti virus programs will find a virus (they have to update anti viruses all the time) see what the Geek Squad can about it...also if you are in chat room it will happen its a program that spam bots use lol same here sorry i can not fully answer however idk if you realize this when you are signed in ayhoo and veiwing your e-mail you are logged into your im... is it coming up in a tab or poping up in front of you?

If you mean that you are seeing these in Yahoo! Mail, there is a built in chat feature in Yahoo! Mail, and if you sign out of that, you will disable the chat feature and will get no more requests. What you need to do is locate where the chat is in Yahoo! Mail and where the status message is sign out of it which will make you Offline for chat. 1. For Yahoo! Classic Mail chat: it is located in a blue box on the left, labeled “Chat & Mobile Text,” just change your status to Sign out of chat which will make you offline. 2. In the All-New Yahoo! Mail you sign out of chat at the very top of the page to the right of where it says "Hi, your name" You will see a drop down arrow click and choose "Sign out of chat." Your status in for chat in Yahoo! Mail will change to offline and chat will be disabled. http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/cg/mail/cg_chat6.html 3. In Yahoo Mail Beta read this for instructions on how to disable the chat feature: Read here for how to disable the chat feature in Yahoo Mail Beta: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ymail/chat/chat-05.html;_ylt=AjlDXH9Wfeo_7Yg_fZ2LiSMHPnpG ---------------------------------------… If you think your son might have accidentally accepted an add request, go to your Mail Contacts and double check that there are no unknowns added, and delete them. ---------------------------------------… After one hour, if you receive a helpful answer, please remember to go back to your question and choose a Best Answer and leave feedback.
