Webcam feature not available on messenger?

Messenger 9 - no "view webcam", just videocall ?

• I recently installed the then most recent messenger 9 through yahoo and I have found that there is no facility to "view (my) webcam" as in previous versions..it seems to have migrated to "videocall" only, with no facility to just let somebody see you on your webcam. Maybe I'm "missing" something in the instructions and I can let people view me on cam without using the accompanying chat in version 9. It would seem that for anybody to use this facility both users must have that same version 9 of messenger i.e. to action videocall. I just want to have the use of "view (my) webcam" back. On the basis that my assumption about the version 9 messenger is correct could somebody tell me which version of messenger has the most up to date facilities to allow me to use my "view webcam" without migrating into videocall. I have re-installed the most advanced version of messenger 8 (which gives me my "view webcam" feature back) from filehippo.com, but there are quite a few versions of messenger 9, so can anyone tell me which version gives me the most advanced settings before the intro of the videocall feature?
