Downloading yahoo messenger.....error?

just bought a new laptop and had no problems downloading windows messenger but when I download yahoo messenger, it gets to the end and tells me that "Download has been cancelled or interrupted" and I hit retry several times.....same message appears. And it cann't open it due to this. I did not touch the computer during download at all. Help !!!

Usually it's because of another program that is disrupting the download.

well i am not sure what's wrong. but i do have an alternative to downloading it. go to yahoo.com and then click on the messenger button in the upper right hand corner. from there you should be able to get to an online version of the messenger. it is free and installation is not necassary.
