How do i set up an e mail address?

I have a Yahoo e-mail address...how do I set up Yahoo Messenger?

  • A couple of years ago my e-mail was getting so much spam that I established a second account to use. I advised all my friends of the change. My Yahoo Messenger was set up with that address so I never changed. I tried to delete the old (and first) e-mail address and it wouldn't delete. An online tech told me it would not delete as long as I was using the messenger. What I want to do now is delete my old messenger then the old e-mail address. After that I want to set up Yahoo Messenger with my current e-mail address. Please help me someone. :)

  • Answer:

First, delete the old Yahoo Messenger program from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs section, then double-check in Search in case there re any remnants to delete later (XP is notorious for leaving registry remnants.) That should now make it easy to delete the old Mail program too - all accounts set up with that address now will be deleted. Download and SAVE the Messenger program from File Hippo - it has all older versions listed on the right (choose the highest number for any version) but remember that Messenger 11 Beta format means it's still testing. If you use Internet Explorer 8 or 9 as your browser with Messenger 10, be sure to update Flash, JAva and even the .NET framework.

2 Step Process.... 1..Start > Control Panel > add/remove programs....when the list shows up...scroll down to near the bottom...look for Yahoo Messenger...click on it...the click remove.... 2. After Step #1 is completed.....Start > Search > all files and folders including hidden ones....use the search term Messenger....Target "C" drive and hit search....when the search is completed....delete all files associated with Yahoo Messenger ...there should only be about 2 or 3 left...... After the above action is complete....delete the files in recycle bin and re-start your computer.....Yahoo Messenger is no longer on the PC.
