What are the webcam requirements for Yahoo! Messenger?

How come my webcam doesn't work in Yahoo IM Messenger 8? REVISED?

  • I have the ITSG ViewCam 635-Model:PK-635, showing USB PC Camera 301P in device manager. I did the configurations with all choices in Yahoo messenger. At one point it will tell me 'wecam not connected' at another point it will say that 'I am behind a firewall and unable to use yahoo webcam services.' My firewall is off and it still gives me this message. The webcam works every place else except in yahoo Messenger 8. Please help. Thank you. Additional Details: I received this answer: Never turn off firewall,it's there for your pc's safety.where you turned it off,turn it on.Then click on exception tab.There find webcam and messenger and check them,then ok.If there not on that list click on add program just under list.On that list find webcam and messenger and check them,then ok.Check on first list make sure there on there now and checked,then ok.Make sure you do both of them. Here is what happened: OK...the webcam and messenger is listed in the firewall list and checked. But the messenger service is still telling me that the webcam is not connected, but yet it is. It's even in the device manager. Other programs detect it and work fine with it. But Yahoo IM Messenger does see it's connected. Why? Please assist. Thank you.

Unplug webcam from pc,reinstall installation cd.plug in cam when it tell's you to plug in.If it still don't show connection go into messenger,click on help,click messenger help again.In that list of item's down to webcam,click it.On that page it give's troubleshooting thing's and cause's of problem's.Also has a compatibility check it will perform to see it your camera will work with the system you have.Good luck.Oh and i was the one with the other answer,sorry it did'nt help.I've never had a problem with cam's just plug in and it work's.Guess it could be system's. Later.
