Does the I.M. me instant messenger really work good?

Instant Messenger Question?????

• I work for a company that has added the entire staff that works for the company to their instant messenger so that we can get updates 24/7, however 99% of these messages are needless, besides we get the same info. sent to us by email so I don't need any of the IM's. I am TIRED of seeing all of the IM messages popping up on my screen all day (weekends to) and then having to "x" out of them like 20 times a day. Does anyone know if there is any way that I could block my boss from sending these irritating IM announcements or just fix it so that although I still have access to viewing the IM at my own convenience at a later time only I no longer see these messages pop on my screen without having to completely delete him as an added friend from my free version of Yahoo Messenger?????

• Answer:

  On the preferences panel (type <CTRL><SHIFT>P from the main Messenger window), there are options on how to manage new incoming messages. I believe (I'm working from memory as I don't have Messenger installed on my work machine) that you can choose to have ALL new messages appear in a single message panel. You can keep this minimized on your desktop and only check it when you wish. Once you start a conversation with any person, those messages will appear in a new window.
