Unable to make microsoft webcam work with yahoo messenger?

have installed microsoft lifecam 1.4 on laptop and it works fine. When I log into Yahoo Messenger (I have latest version of Messenger) and click on webcam icon, I get a message that YM cannot find a webcam on my system. Any thoughts?
