Can you use yahoo contacts with MSN messenger?

I use to have a 6;0 version yahoo messenger i now have beta 9 can my contacts still im me on my yahoo messenge

i have a new version yahoo messenger beta 9 i was wondering if my contacts got an older version yahoo messenger can they still im me on my beta 9 messenger because one of my contacts ive not heard from since i got the new version yahoo
