Why is the webcam not working?

Why is my webcam not working when it has been working fine since I got it a month ago?

  • I have an HP laptop with a built in webcam. I got it a month ago, have been using the webcam since then, but all of a sudden, today it wont work. it just says "a network error occurred while connecting to the server." why is it doing that now when it was working just yesterday? i took off the firewall from yahoo messenger, i downloaded the 9.0 version of yahoo messenger, and still nothing. i cant even see anybody else's webcam anymore either. please help me fix this! bte im not good with computers so i need exact steps on what i need to click on to fix it.. lol. thanks!

    experience the same problem.i was told to go to preference's,open it go to proxy accepted click,then open yahoo I.M. and open webcam. sometimes you have to reset see:http;YAHOO.COM/L/US/YAHOO/MESSENGER/… IN YOUR CASE NOT 8 BUT YOUR PROGR=9.1 ?? OK?

Did you uninstall the previous version of Yahoo Messenger before installing the 9.0 version? If not you can try uninstalling it then re-installing it.

PERSONALLY YOUR FIRST MISTAKE WAS DOWNLOADING 9.0, IT IS STILL IN ITS BETA FORMAT AND NOT ALL BUGS ARE FIXED. Do this,,,, Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs. DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window), and go to this website,,,,, http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=... and install the 7.0 (my suggestion, one of which I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH). PS. Stay away from the 9.0 Beta version it still has bugs being worked out, and like I suggested, the 7.0 is the most stable. And no you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install. BE SAFE Cheri
