Is there any way I can retrieve offline messages after they are gone?

Can you retrieve an unread offline message from yahoo messenger?

• I was checking my yahoo mail and noticed that I had 1 new offline message. I meant to check it before closing down my mail browser but I forgot. A message warned me that if I continued to navigate from the browser, the message would be lost. I pressed deny so that I could go back to the mail browser, but once I got there the offline message was gone. I then logged on to my yahoo messenger to see if maybe I could find it there, but still no success. Nor does it show up under message archives. Is there any possible way that an offline message can be retrieved?

• Answer:

  Only messages of people on your contact list will be saved to your archive if you already enabled that feature. Messages from people not on that list won't get saved. Go to messenger -> preferences -> archives, enable this feature, click okay. To save future messages, mark "yes, save all of my messages", click "apply" and "okay". To read archived messages right-click the user ID, click message archive.
