Why I can't add contact at yahoo messenger?

How do i stop messages from strangers from yahoo messenger if i dont have yahoo messenger?

Everytime i go into my yahoo email page and go to click on where it says mail,i get a popup at the lower right hand corner of the page from someone asking me to add them as a yahoo messenger contact?I do not have yahoo messenger on my computer at all?These requests seem to always be from some sex thing like "hot bunny99 wants you to to add them to your contact list"!Thats just an example but those are the type of names that are used?They are complete strangers?? I cant go to yahoo messenger because i dont have it to block anyone?I cant go to spam because it asks to add the person as spam and put it on the blocked list because even if i do that,more keep coming? Im frustrated! How do i stop this?I have windows xp.
