How to retrieve a chat messages?

I had a chat with a friend and had tips of how to find a job. Now i cannot find the chat messages and my friend is away for two months. How can i retrieve the chat messages. mike

You can't get the message if you didn't turn on archives.

You had to have your settings set up in the Archive to save messages, in order to see them again.Go to Preferences and Archive to see what you have. If you already had this done, then there's place on the page where you IM that you can veiw messages.
