  • Yahoo messenger question i need a computer genious to help me out!? ok i have no idea what happened! i wanted to get rid of my yahoo messenger so i went into the delete programs folder and removed the yahoo messenger application from my computer. however now i have the old version of messenger it seems like on my computer and cannot get rid of it! how do i get rid of it? its not in my applications folder either and there is no icon either!! all i did was remove the application and now i can't get rid of it and what is worse is that it is an older veriosn of messneger!! how do i get rid of it!

    If there is no icon, and no folder, are you sure you have it? Without knowing what OS you are using, hard to give advice, however, if it is a Windows OS, likely go into "my computer", then programs, and see what is in it.. if you find Yahoo msngr, delete each folder manually... or make sure it isn't windows messenger, which comes with the OS... Post your OS, and a better answer may come. Good luck. Sometimes an incomplete uninstall is the result of deleting while the program is running, to prevent this, BEFORE deleting, go to MSCONFIG and uncheck the program, and reboot, then delete.

if you just deleted files for yahoo they may be in the recycle bin, and can be restored from there. Next try the add remove programs. if it is there try deleting it from there again. if all else failes reinstall it and then uninstall using the add remove programs. hope you are using Windows Xp., it its Vista use the Programs and Features > found in the control panel.
