How do I delete a contact off my Yahoo messenger?

How can I delete a contact on Yahoo Messenger?

  • Yeah, I know everyone that reads the subject, is going to go "duh", this guy is an idiot. However there's a little more with it than just the simple question. I have a contact that doesn't log on to Yahoo Messenger any longer, in fact, he stopped using it over 5 years ago. I've deleted him from my list many times. However, each time I start up Yahoo Messenger, he's on the list again. You ask, have I ever deleted other contacts before out of Yahoo Messenger. The answer is Yes, without a problem. The unique thing with this person's Yahoo name is that it ends with the following 2 characters () his Yahoo name is like the following: joe_blow() The only problem with that, is that most functions, and methods in most programming languages use the open and close parenthesis in them, and I think the Yahoo contact listings has a bug in it. I've emailed Yahoo Messenger Help about this many times, and they never respond to me. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Thanks,

  • Answer:

your friends list is also available online, often if removal via Yahoo! Messenger itself fails the online version does the trick... http://messenger.yahoo.com/edit/ it should show you all the quirky bits in user IDs as well including open and close parenthesis... fingers crossed removing him this way does the trick :)

Try deleting the name from Y! Address Book. Perhaps there is something that says import the name from the address book each time you log on.
