What to do if yahoo messenger does not display text?

Why does my yahoo messenger not display text or news?

• the news window, that opens at start, stays blank, as well as the messenger field when typing messages. the other party receives messages in their messenger but i can't see anything. it looks like something is blocking it?? i know about text color and i enabled all all scripting options.

  The first thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things that go wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. The newest version is 5.7. Exit all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. This version of Window Script is already included with Vista so you would not use that link.
