How can I communicate with Yahoo messenger?

Can someone logged into Yahoo! Messenger communicate with someone else logged into MSN Messenger?

I don't want to have to install MSN Messenger but my son wants to chat with his friend who has a hotmail account and MSN messenger. If I can get by with just Yahoo! Messenger, I will.

Well i dont think that will be possible because yahoo is completely different from msn...so you have no choice but to install msn....
