Why does Yahoo Messenger mess up my computer?

Want to change back to yahoo! classic where i can use the yahoo! messenger without updating my browser. help?

i have the new yahoo! mail but it always tells me that i need to update my browser so i can use the yahoo! message but i really don't want to cause im scared that my computer might crash or mess up and my internet is slow. can someone tell me how to do it easy and quick so i can use the messenger again.
