How do I stop Yahoo! update offers for my Yahoo! Messenger (BETA)?

when Yahoo! offers the update, it takes a long for me to start using the messenge; I would update, but my computer can't handle the upgraded version

head to... C:\ Program Files\ Yahoo!\Messenger (remove the spaces from the path above :) look for a file called yupdater.exe rename it to yupdater.OLD that will stop the auto update :)

Unfortunately there is no way to stop it, you just have to wait it out they do that to intimidate you into loading the newer version, it does stop eventually, last time they did that it did it for a couple of months but this latest one has been going on longer, they are really pushing it. I know a few people that have loaded it and it doesn't work the last stable version was version 7. It was so bad they either deleted it and went back to an older version or they are using another program like yzak now till the anoyance of the update stops.
