How do I delete old IM status messages I've created?

  Yahoo! Messenger retains your last 5 custom status entries, these are stored in your registry... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ yahoo\ pager\ profiles\ {yahooID}\ Custom Msgs you can either create as many as required to bump the existing ones off your list or you can download and use Andy's Clear/Edit Messenger status history utility which allows easy editing and deletion of the messages without touching your registry (which isn't recommended unless you have a good working knowledge of your system and know how to backup and restore your registry) His utility will will let your remove / edit your previous Yahoo Messenger status messages or you can either clear all or just select which ones to remove, you can also edit existing ones (for like if you do a typo etc) or create new ones.
