How do I shut down, remove, hide, whatever Yahoo messenger?

How do I shut down, remove, hide, whatever Yahoo messenger? I find it more than a little annoying.
Answer:

Depending on if you have a Mac or Pc you can click "FILE- QUIT." I used to have a PC and every time I logged in it would pop up. What you have to do to prevent this from happening is go to options or edit settings, anything like that and disable "Open on start" or disable the automatic start/ login. I don't remember word for word but hopefully that helps.

Click start lower left on your desktop. Click control panel.Next double click add remove programs. Scroll down and highlight Yahoo messenger. Click remove and follow the prompts.Do the same with any other Yahoo messenger applications in your program list.
