Why can't I add friends in Windows Live Messenger?

Why does Yahoo messenger not always show my windows live messenger friends?

Ok, I have both Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo 8.0 Messenger...the reason for this is because i wasnt getting all my conservations thru WLM, so I downloaded Yahoo Messenger...however Yahoo Messenger doesnt always show my WLM friends online, when in fact they are online....does it take awhile for Yahoo to show my WLM friends online?

The internet can be slow sometimes , specially dial up connections.. also if you are communication to ppl in different countries.. the net takes time to communicate (exchange data) between different careears. The yahoo and WLM are two different sites so all this exchange of data would take time sometimes. Try this to proove my point of slow internet right in yahoo msnger... add a friend and in friend's id type in ur own id. and so by doing that u add ur self in ur friend's list. try sending ur self and im. this is funny. the im sometimes comes back to you 3 or 4 seconds later. ( sometimes immediately too) Back to your point of the friends not being visible.. well it could be possible that they are online but in an invisible mode.

Maybe they don't appear because either they don't have Yahoo Messenger or it is not compatible with it.
