Yahoo Messenger question...?

  • When I sign into to check my Yahoo email it automatically signs me in to the Yahoo email chat. How do I stop it from doing that? If I'm already signed into my Yahoo Messenger it logs me out when I sign into check the email. I find this very frustrating. Also, at home, when I sign into Yahoo to check email it signs me into Yahoo email chat invisibly which is what I want (if I can't stop it from doing that then I want to be signed in invisibly). However, when I'm at a friend's house and I do that it shows me as available which I don't like. I've tried: searching the Yahoo email page, Yahoo help page and have Googled for the answer all to no avail. Thanks for taking the time to help me with these questions. If there is a solution to the first then I do not need a solution to the second question.

    You are disconnecting from Yahoo Messenger because you are going to your mailbox and you are signing into Mail Chat automatically. Besides your username, you should see an option, "Available". Click on it and change your status to "Offline" by clicking on "Sign out of Chat". You will then be able to log back into IM and stay logged in. You cannot be signed into both IM and Mail Chat at the same time and this is why it is happening to you.
