How do I set up Yahoo IM to start automatically when I sign in and show my friends who are online?

I just downloaded Yahoo IM/Voice Mail Version 8, including the Yahoo Toolbar, but the "Welcome Tour" did not give any instructions on how to set up or use Yahoo IM. I see how to check my e-mail, but not how to start IM or how to send or receive messages through Yahoo IM. There is no "IM" button on the Yahoo toolbar.

Open the Yahoo Messenger. Click Messenger at the top of the page [near Contacts]. Scroll down to Preferences >>Click General >> Ensure that "Automatically start Yahoo Messenger" is checked. To send an IM, click "Action" at the top of the IM box and you'll see the "Send IM" option

to send an IM- 1)the personis on your list a) left click on the ID in your contatc list twice b)rite click on the ID inour contact list and select "Send An Instant Message" c) hover your mouse over the ID inyour list and when the contact card appears select the IM icon 2)persons not on your list a) in the main messenger menu goto Actions>Send an Instant Message then select the "Other Contact" tab and fill in the ID youwant to IM Start Messenger when windows loads- 1)in the main menu go to Messenger>Preferences go to the "General" dialog and in the first option .. "When I Start up My Computer"" make sure the box is checked that sez ... "Automaticaly Start Yahoo! Messenger" to automatically sign in when messenger starts- 1)at the login window when you first start messenger make sure the two check boxes are ticked that say "remeber my ID and Password" and "sign me in automatically"
