Why is my yahoo messenger 9.0 not working?

Why isn't Yahoo! Messenger working on my laptop?

  • I have a new 2008 HP Pavilion dv6000. I just got it at the beginning of the semester, about the end of August. When I first bought the laptop I immediately installed Yahoo! Messenger version 9.0. Until now, I haven't had a problem with it. Yesterday it just completely stopped working. When I try to run it, I get a pop-up that says "Yahoo! Messenger has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution...". Then another pop-up comes up that says "Yahoo! Messenger has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it about 3 or 4 times and it never works. I've deleted the Yahoo! IE tool bar. I've tried a custom down load and just down loaded the Messenger itself. HELP ME!

    okay, first run a virus scan, then spyware and then defragment your system about 3 times. Hopefully that will help you out. then reinstall the messenger. I had to do that not to long ago on my Dell laptop. Hope that it will help you get it working again. If that doesnt work you can try running updates to your internet explorer and windows.

try resetting your screen resolution to a higher one, this problem was also mine a few weeks ago ,found that it was working just that my screen res was off by a few thousand, this might show it on screen, if it soesn't work you can always return to your older resolutions, just don't forget what the current one is ..
