How do you add friends in Yahoo Messenger?

How do I add friends to yahoo messenger? the smiley face thing answer doesn't work so don't say it.?

    You can also add them through your yahoo email. there is a box you check when you add there name into your address book that says "add to your messenger". It will automatically send them the invite or message that you want to add them to your messenger. Hope this helps you

That 's strange i add friends by clicking on contacts.

I suggest a fresh install of Yahoo! Messenger. First, a fresh install will ensure you have the latest build of Yahoo! Messenger. Also, a reinstall will write over any Messenger files that may have become corrupt and causing this adding contacts issue. There are two versions of Yahoo! Messenger available. Yahoo! just launched Yahoo! Messenger version 8.0, which includes plug-ins and integration of Yahoo! 360 integration. For version 8, just go to http://messenger.yahoo.com, click on the ‘Get it Now’ button, and follow the installation process. If you are not ready for the beta, just click on the ‘Get version 7.5’ link located directly under the ‘Get it Now’ button to get the current version, version 7.5.
