How do you change your display picture in yahoo messenger?

its not the downloaded one, just the web page one. When im in instant massenger on yahoo, my picture is a purple exclamation mark. is that for everyone and can it not be changed? coz my profile picture for answers and for 'Pulse' is a photo, but my messanger display picture wont change.
