How to display message before redirect?

On Yahoo messenger, some people are able to have an away message automatically display in the message box...?

• I know about the status message that displays next to your name. But what I'm asking is how do they make it so that when you type "hi" or whatever to them, you get an instant message response saying for example, "Taking a nap" in the conversation box. It's like they typed it back to you, but they didn't! It's a true "away" message that comes up. Anybody know what I'm asking and how to do it? All help appreciated, thank you!

  you need a special program to do that , maybe that person isn't using yahoo messenger , there some programs like gaim that you can use it to connect to yahoo like yahoo messenger.
