Answer:
You can't edit your screen name on Yahoo! Messenger, but what you can do is create a new one to use. Just go to the Messenger menu and click on My Profiles. There you'll see the option to create a new profile. Then you'll have the option of selecting that screen name when you send a message to someone.

You can edit your display name in Yahoo Messenger by clicking Messenger > My Contact Details > key in your desired nickname in the nickname field.
