What's up with thie "Message from Web Page" popup?

I don't get this anywhere but Yahoo! Answers. I little window opens in the middle of the screen saying "Message from Web Page" at the top and "Hi" in the middle. If you click "OK," instead of "Hi," it says, "1." Click again and it says some larger number. Click again and it goes away. When this happens, it will repeat the entire cycle 2 or 3 times before it stops coming back. I used to shut down the entire page and start over again for fear of doing some damage to my computer, but THAT'S a pain. What is it and how would you handle it?

i got that message a couple of days ago, too. I was afraid to click on it, so I ran a thorough scan and McAfee pegged a virus and eliminated it. Haven't seen the "hi" popup since. Hope yours is OK.

I dunno. I don't get the message, never have. My browser blocks popups. Try blocking instant messages and changing browsers. I generally reinstall my OS monthly to wipe off all the accumulated impedimenta.
