How do I use chat on a mac?

• How do I use I chat? I also downloaded software program called adium. It is a software that uses all your internet messengers. However, I can not seem to open it , how does it work? Help.

  iChat is the same thing (basically) as AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). If you have an AIM account, when you log onto iChat, it'll bring up your AIM Buddy list. I to use to use one of those programs that allowed us to chat using several differnt IM applications at once, but it wasn't Adium. I don't remember what I had, but it worked just fine. I just didn't feel so obsessed that I had to be talking to that many different people who use different chat programs. I would think, once you have the opening problem resolved (I can't imagine who you can't open the application), that you'd need to use AIM. Looking at the Website, it doesn't list iChat as one of the programs it recognizes. Maybe by virtue of the fact it recognizes AIM, it recognizes iChat, but I wouldn't bet on it. (This may seem silly, but you are sure you downloaded the Mac version of Adium, right?) I can't think what the problem could be not being able to open it.
