Why does my real name show up on Yahoo Messenger?

I just had to re-install yahoo messenger. It shows my real name I want my yahoo ID to show. How can I fix it

  • My computer crashed the other day. I have been updating and re-installing everything. I Got the Yahoo Messenger 8.1 and when I IM someone it shows my real name. How can I stop this. I want my Nick on yahoo to show. Please help?

       At the top of your main Messenger window click "Messenger" then "My Contact Details". Yahoo! first checks the "Nickname" field then moves to your full name if there is no nickname supplied, so edit your name and/or be sure you have something in the Nickname box then click "Save & Close".    When you request to add a new friend to your list pay close attention to the information which appears in the option window. It will send whatever information you have entered in the Nickname field, or the Name field if your Nickname is blank. On one of the steps in the "Add Friend" process, you will see the name you are sending them, and a "Change" button to allow you to change it.
