How do I delete my Status Message on Yahoo IM?

  • I created my own Status Message on my Yahoo IM account, but I can't delete it! How do I delete extra or unused Status Messages?

    Yahoo! Messenger retains your last 5 custom status entries so you can either create 5 new messages to replace the existing ones or edit your registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ yahoo\ pager\ profiles\ {yahooID}\ Custom Msgs it's not recommended that one go delving into their registry unless they have a good working knowledge of the possible impact should something go astray. or you can download and use Andy's Clear/Edit Messenger status history utility which allows easy editing and deletion of the messages without touching your registry. His utility will let your remove / edit your previous Yahoo Messenger status messages or you can either clear all or just select which ones to remove, you can also edit existing ones (for like if you do a typo etc) or create new ones. You'll have to edit the Windows registry for this. Click on Start -> run -> type 'regedit' (without quotes) and hit OK. Here navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> yahoo -> pager -> profiles -> 'yahoo ID' -> Custom Msgs. (Replace yahoo ID with your actual yahoo ID) Here on the right pane you will see the custom status messages in the 'data' column. Suppose you want to delete a status message against the 2 in the Name column. Then you must delete that particular entry of the status message and also delete the entries 2_bin and 2_DND because they correspond to the status message of the value name 2. That is it, that will delete that particular status message. Do this for all the messages you want to delete.

Right-click your avatar,click 'New Status Message..' delete the text from it ,click 'OK'. Or select other status options from there.
