How do you set up a profile for yahoo messenger?

How am I getting messages from unknown strangers on Yahoo!Messenger when I've set preference on my profile?

  • such that nobody could IM me?!? Could anyone please explain if there's a leakage in system? Thanks :)

    I can't explain it but maybe it is a prophesy from that old song from South Pacific: "Some enchanted evening. You may see a stranger. You may see a stranger Across a crowded room ..." You never know which stranger today will become the friend of tomorrow until you allow them to cross the invisible boundary called "Caution." I'm just kidding. I would never allow a stranger on line to get out of line. He can stand in line with the rest of them but not in my life line.

if you haven't try this. Click messenger top left in the messenger window scroll down click preferences then scroll and click ignore list. In the next window you will see where to add people to your ignore list or you could check ignore anyone not on my friend's list. then click o.k.

Maybe you didn't save it? When you set your preference you have to click save on the bottom .
