How do I stop sharing updates?

How can I stop Yahoo! Messenger Updates?

• The Updates are those annoying things/words that people see when they highlight my name on Yahoo! Messenger. I want those to stop; I don't want people to see those annoying outdated updates! Going to Yahoo! Messenger preferences and the 'Manage My Updates' don't work.

• Answer:

  TO STOP YOUR OWN UPDATES APPEARING: Click on "Messenger" in the top left hand corner of the Messenger Pane. Click on "Manage Updates I Broadcast". This will take you to your Profile page. (Now called "Pulse"). UNTICK the box "Share my Updates". Click on "Save" at the bottom of the page. TO MANAGE THE UPDATES FROM YOUR CONTACTS: Click on "Messenger" in the top left hand corner of the Messenger Pane. Click on "Preferences". Click on "Yahoo Updates". Click on the box "Customise Yahoo! Updates". Untick the boxes next to your Contacts' names for the updates you do not wish to see. Click on "OK" at the bottom. Please note that these updates sometimes take a couple of days to clear.
