Does anyone know where I can download/find custom emoticons on windows live messenger?

Windows live messenger emoticon folder?

  • um does anyone know where all the emoticons get saved from the windows live mail thing?

  • Answer:

I did some research, and found out that the "fun stuff" in live messenger are all located in a file which - wherever it may be - is called ... ObjectStore ... It may be in a different place on different computers, so it's best to find the common denominator and run a full drive search (or on multiple drives if you have them). - Do a search on your C (or main) drive(s). - In advanced options, make sure you select "search hidden files and folders" - Put the word ObjectStore in the filename for the search - Click "Search" This will pull up all your emoticon, background, winks, etc. folders. All of them, current and old. Check the search results, find which ObjectStore folders are yours (it will have your sign-in email as part of the folder) and then find your current one. Just copy all the contents of each of the "older" ObjectStore files into your current one. Make sure you're copying winks to winks, etc. It's easy to see which one is current by the Modified date. If you want to see what they look like, change the file extension to .gif and then open it (or view in thumbnail - but you won't see the animation). Remember to change it back to .dt2 though. Hope this helps.
