Is entering chat rooms on Yahoo Messenger safe?

Why can't I enter any Yahoo chat rooms?

  • I tried entering Yahoo chat rooms by going to Yahoo's home website, then clicking on the the chat panel. Well, when I clicked i went to a website saying download the new yahoo messenger. Okay I did. Then I tried accessing yahoo chat rooms through messenger (just updated) and then a messenge popped up saying "Yahoo Messenger encountered an error. Messenger must close." Then I went back to going to the chat panel on the Yahoo website. The same website popped up again about downloading the new messenger? Does anyone have a clue or encountered such a problem before?

I tried to enter a chatroom and all I got was the hourglass showing it was trying to get in (or searching) that was 18 minutes ago and it's still turning - unfortunately, Yahoo doesn't provide us with a common resource via email to get these matters resolved - does anyone know of any other chat rooms that are not devoted to romantic matches?

because it's retarded. I never use yahoo chat anymore because when you can actually get it to work, almost everyone in there is actually a bot, not a live person. Its worthless. Which sucks, because I use to love it.

I cant get in either. i think its a bug.....mabe a booter program. i get an error message that said i wasnt authorized for conferance....and i never was to begin with, now i cant go in chat at all. earlier there were error messages telling me i was already in chat however there were no chat applets or windows showing on my desktop. not a thing

You could consider uninstall your current Yahoo! Messenger and download from http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/. The latest version is Yahoo! Messenger 8.1.0.195. You could also find a list of previous versions of Yahoo! Messenger on the right panel.
