How do i get into Yahoo Chat using Yahoo Messenger now that Java-Based chat softwere is no longer being used?

Yahoo help says to click the chat icon in the messenger window but am unable to find the chat icon, please can someone help??

Are you using the UK version of messenger or the US? Only th US version of Messenger 8 has the Chat option, it can be downloaded from Yahoo

click on messenger in the upper left hand part of your yahoo messenger window and scroll down to yahoo! chat. left click on that and then left click on join room.
