How to get rid of private messages coming from yahoo chatrooms ?

I just tried to enter yahoo chatroom and ive been bombarded with loads of pms. how do i set it not to receive wierd messages from people i really dont know ? im using mac computer. thankyou.

Answer:
i'm not acquainted with the settings of Mac. but if it's the same messenger as everybody uses on Windows, you can see on your messenger box "Preferences > Ignore List > ignore anyone who is not on my messenger list (tick this option) and click OK to apply.
