How do i add someone to my contacts list so i know when their online?

How do I add someone to my contacts list,so I know when their online? My friends say that I have to invite them from yahoo messenger. I'm using Yahoo! Messenger Beta. Also,when you go to the "Add Yahoo Contact" option,how do you add that friend. I just discovered Yahoo! Messenger Beta just this morning. Please help me! Thank you Yahoo! Answers!!! I'll be back to choose "Best Answer" in about 10 hours or even less. =)

Click onto Add Contact, type in their email address and send them the request to add them to your list. When and If they accept it, then you can talk to them if they are online.

on the messenger click the "+" plus sign to add a contact. if you can't see it, just click "Contacts" and click "Add a Contact". type the name/ID of person and click OK. done!

Yahoo messenger 9.0? on the messenger click the plus sign then type the email of the person you want to add and click OK. hope this helps ^^
