How can I appear online to the contacts who I had declined?

I u se Yahoo messenger 8.1. Can i appear offline to everyone but my contacts?

• When i sign in as invisible and choose my contacts that i want to appear online for, the status bar says i appear offline to x# of contacts, online to x# of contacts and online to everyone else. I want to appear offline to evryone else.

• Answer:

  From the main IM window, click on Messenger, then on Preferences, then on Privacy. Enable the first item (Always appear invisible); you can also enable Invisible from login; you can also enable it from the status setting below the main IM menu. Now click on the Messenger menu item again, then on My Profiles, then click on the Create/Edit My Profiles button. A browser window will open to edit.profiles.yahoo.com. Now make sure that the check box in the middle is enabled -- check this to HIDE from everybody else. Once you do all this, nobody will know when you are online, until you chose to show yourself visible to them. NOTE, that if you log off when you are visible to ANYONE, when you log back in automatically, you will be visible to EVERYONE. hope it helps? :-)
